I haven't added people on LJ for a long time because I really prefer to know people personally before adding them. But I would like to have a better chance of getting to know some of you, so let's try? If I didn't add you and you'd like me to, please reply to this post and tell me what we have in common, etc.

if you've been on my flist for a long time, don't worry, I'm not removing you. ^_^

You should know a few things though:
--- I can't always keep up with LJ. If you need me to know something, please email.
--- I'm really not down with wank communites. If that's your sort of thing, I don't think we can be friends. Sorry! In fact if you love those comms, please just remove me, I won't be offended.
--- Please respect my privacy.
--- for doll stuff, please try queenjune. for costumes, please try hcc_cosplay.
--- I like cake, cartoons, cats and fluffy dresses. If you find this offensive, we can't be friends. :) DUDE, look at this adorable bakery!
--- I post most things publicly, so you can add me,... you don't have to feel pressured to reply here, or to comment on items. You don't have to have me add you back or anything. I don't mind if you lurk. It's rare that I post things locked and if I do it's typically something boring about laundry.
If I don't add you back, please don't take it personally, it's really not meant that way. :)

see previous post for my finished Swan Pinups.
random sketch-time! Here is a man I saw the other day. His jacket had purple fur and he had a big louis vuitton bag. ..... also a couple sketches of Japanese screens from D.C. last week.

I don't mind if you don't add me but I thought I might give a greeting anyways:

I've spoken to you a couple times (I bought your sketchbook and I emailed you once or twice when I was applying to college) but yes, I am an animation student at Ringling College of Art and Design and it is because of you that I knew there was such thing as an animation school, I'm so glad you had all those lovely articles about animation on your website way back when :) I love your drawings and I look forward to seeing them, and I'm glad you've been an inspiration to me or perhaps my career would have turned out different. I also love kitties and as soon as it's possible I will be obtaining one, it hurts to go catless this long XO Damn college. So yea, that's me :) My main goals right now are to do everything in my power to boost my art skills and drawing abilities.

If you want to add me, that would be cool. Either way, if you are still looking for music for your project, let me know. I tried to upload some stuff on Vox for you, but the files were too big so I have to edit them.

See you on Poupee Girl =D

If you would like to add me, here is a little bit about myself, my name is Amanda and I have enjoyed your art since 98, back when I first saw your gargoyles fan art on the internet. I love cartoons, action figures, dolls, anime, comics & manga, frilly clothes and all things Asian. I also love to draw, mostly cutesy anime type things. I am a geeky ten year old girl at heart.

The little sparrow is cute in your sketch, I love his wings.

Lovely Complex, which is an awesome manga/anime about a too-tall-girl with a too-short-boy. :)

Yay! I was added! I really love your book and meeting you at Katsucon was awesome. You made me believe that no matter what, height included, a girl can dress cute in the lolitaesque style and not be out of place.

Hi Aimee, I understand if you don't add me back, there's a few people I don't add just because I really don't comment on their page *LOL* However I think we have a few things in common. I really just love reading about things you do, and posting "how tos". I believe I came across your page through a mention of a magazine or website about females in animation.

I am going for my bachelors in Media Arts & Animation. So I'm always trying to learn how people go about their business doing their job :) On my free time I sell kitty ears XD I just changed my site to OSCommerce so I"m learning how to make a custom layout.

Anyways glad you post in LJ :) I do post some "friend's only" stuff but not a whole lot. Feel free to check out my "about me" page or just do a quick skim through my LJ to check out some stuff I do!

Hiya! Been a long-time admirer of your work :) I'm 23 with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Animation. I love doing character design and I hope to work in video games modeling and texturing characters and/or creatures. I'm a manga and anime fan - some of my favorites are Escaflowne and the Miyazaki films. I sew and frequent the annual Renaissance Festivals in my area. I would love to try cosplaying someday. I'm a gamer and an all-around geek when it comes right down to it :P

No worries if you decide not to add me - Just glad I have the chance to introduce myself to an artist I've admired for a long time ^^

(I bought your sketchbook yesterday, btw - yay!)

Hi. I understand if you don't add me back. But I think we have some things in common. I have been a fan of your artwork since I was in college and was introduced to it. I have a degree in anaimation and my teacher, Lou Hertz, would show us the anmimation reels from calarts all the time. That is where I saw your project, my own magic. I fell in love with it.
Lately I have been trying to find myself.
I am not good at introductions. so let me end this before I sound like a scary scary stalker. :)

Dear Aimee, :)

Weellll...

- I think you and I are the same age. You may be a year younger than me? I'm 27.

- I happened across your artwork when I was in college. Someone on our resident network had one of your pictures in a folder. I saw it, recognized the Beast holding Beauty. It was imprinted with your name, so I was able to find your site and more BATB. I made them my background and slideshow screensaver for my dorm room and I would watch them at times, like a window into another world.

- So when I became interested in BJD's I came across Den of Angels pretty quickly and was amazed that the owner was the same person, you!

- I was also intrigued to know you shared my gothic lolita interest, which sprang up about the same time as the dolls, in mid-year 2003...

- I love mochi and bubble tea. I want to learn the tea ceremony... gah, if I describe all the interests I share with you it really will sound like I'm creepy. :/

- Some differences, maybe? I'm a lab analyst for a pharmaceuticals company, and also a writer, ideally splitting my days 50/50. I wrote historical romance stories and sometimes I serialize snippets of those and my fairy-tale rewrites in my Livejournal. I love Snow White. In addition to gothic lolita, I'm also interested in Chinese clothing.

Generally I don't have time to keep up with Livejournal, and if you don't want to add me back, that's okay. :) I am not very active in posting and I do understand.

Thanks :o)
Amanda

Hello fellow CalArtian! ♥
I've been reading your journal for quite a while, and admittedly, I looked at your website often when I was applying to CalArts :3 I think we met once at Ani-Magic a couple of years ago? Not quite sure, but you seem like a nice girl with similar interests (most things Asian & pretty fluffy things!), so if you'd like to add me, it would be my pleasure!

I'm already on your friends list and have been for oh, quite a long time now (thank you, it's been great :) ). However seeing that sketch of the man with the fur coat made me want to comment.
You really do seem to spot the most interesting people, and I really love seeing your sketches of them. That is one of my favorite things to see you post, you draw them in such a kind, introspective way.

I added you to my friends list because I am a huge fan of yours. In fact, you're one of the influences that helped me improve my style... I hope that doesn't sound creepy! :) I just admire you a lot. You've been a big inspiration to me, and I think, many others.

I've wanted to be an animator since grade 9... I think I always knew what I wanted to do since my dad took me to see Oliver and Company, and I fell in love with the movie... but things didn't work out like I wanted, so now I'm in graphic design instead. But I still draw every day!

I mostly check your LJ for artwork, so if you don't want to add me, that's okay :).

Hey there!
I saw your work way back when I was in high school and loved watching it evolve, you gave me a lot of hope that there was work to be had after art school. :3
Now I'm 25 and work at a game company, and am starting to get transitioned over from concept artist to assistant art director. :D
I also love your kimono posts!

I've added you because we have the same passion: art and animation, and we both finished the same education (you in CalArts in Cali, I in Sheridan, Canada).
We're born one day and one year apart XD and are in a similar part in life I believe (decent job, married, etc)
We both adore cute stuff, are into My Little Pony and cute cartoons, as well as BJD.
You love musicals and Elisabeth *heart*, I remember sending you the lyrics booklet.
And I miss not being able to see that Kyoto entry, I am still hoping to go there one day.
Aaaaand you are my main source of manga/anime recommendations, you got me hooked on Tramps Like Us (I ADORE that manga).

If you want to re-add me, that would be cool, if not, totally understandable.

Hi, my name is Sarah. I read your book Japan Ai and ended up following a series of links to your website and I really love your art! I'm into photo shop, but I also have a love for Japan, anime and manga, copslaying, lolita, and basically most Japanese pop culture and history. I also own a Super Dollfie (a yo-sd Chinatsu) but I'm very new to the hobby.
Its always nice to meet a fellow Japanophile. =) [And I also have two cats haha]
