Oshogatsu Little Tokyo New Years 2008

Happy New Year!
Please see previous post for more photos from Charleston. :)
This was my second year going to Oshogatsu in furisode in LA. I helped out with the LA Kimono club booth and with my sensei's kimono dressing demonstration.
It was a much different experience for me this year, since I've been part of the LA kimono club this time for almost a whole year, whereas last year, I wasn't a member yet. So now I know most people in the club. Everyone is so adorable. I always look forward to seeing what people will wear at the next event. Kuniko-san was there this time, too, and she demonstrated obi and had many of her kanzashi on display.
I was wearing this sakura kimono with yellow toy top obi and pink wisteria kanzashi. I was out of practice with kitsuke today, so my teacher and Kuniko-san helped me. Must get back in practice!

Me and two adorable little girls

Amazaki (sweet rice wine with weird squishy stuff in it, served hot) and Taiyaki (pancake with sweet bean paste inside... shaped like a sea bream). I've never had either of these before!

Sensei and I (look how clear the sky is today! Don't the buildings look fake??)
I love my teacher so much!

Awww, the taiyaki hasn't been properly cut, there should be just a fish instead of the fish and excess around it. I hope you get to eat another proper taiyaki sometime! I like cheese taiyaki myself. :D
