Nordstrom Shoe Event
Dec. 14th, 2007 08:38 pmjust got back from Girls Drawing Girls/ Seychelles shoe art shoe show at NORDSTOM at The Grove, LA.
wow, the Grove was decorated so cute for the holidays!! I love Christmas decor!
(click me)

so... again, my shoes were cupcake shoes (click for pick)
some photos of the shoes at nordstrom (all by Girls Drawing Girls). everyone's shoes turned out really adorable!

... well, while standing around in all those shoes, for a lark, I asked if they had any in my size. (they did! O_O! ) Over the past year or so I've been looking really hard for a GOOD pair of black and/or red high-heel shoes. My previous attempts failed horribly... (in fact the ones I wore to NYAF hobbled me completely!!) but these are really comfy and look great on! They better actually work in the long run! but I think the red pair is definitely a winner.
some photos of the Grove

no, I did not eat the entire cream puff. but it was GOOOOD. (hey, I went to the gymn today, gimme a break!)

and then before leaving I stopped by the Grove Barnes n Nobles, and look what I found! (see the pink books on the bottom shelf? :) ) It's my first time seeing it in stores. Apparently according to friends, it's sold out in a few places... but I've yet to see it at all, so this was fun! :D

Date: 2007-12-15 05:02 am (UTC)The lit tree display likewise reminds me of "The Lighting of the Rich's Tree", a local department store (Comparable to Nordstrom's, actually) that would have a tree, several stories tall, set out in the parking lot. They would have a full chorus singing Chirstmas carols, and they would close the show every year with "O Night Divine"-- when they hit the high note near the end, all the lights on the tree would come one at once. "Spectacular" doesn't cover it. ^_^
Thank you, I know you weren't trying to, but those were some very nice memories. ^_^ And Yay Books! ^_^

Date: 2007-12-15 08:01 pm (UTC)Um, random/drive by fan here. I am so, so happy about your book! I just bought it today and I already read it twice. Seeing as I'm tall myself, around 6 foot 2... I can relate so much to some of the things you wrote about. I really should tell the story of the time I almost fell and killed a Chinese lady on a San Fransisco bus. @_@
Anyway, awesome book! The drawings were ADORABLE.

Date: 2007-12-16 06:42 am (UTC)I got my copies in the mail, and I read it as soon as I opened the box! I couldn't stop until I was done... despite having finals to study for. (If I fail I'm totally blaming you, =D)
Thanks to you, I learned that the woman on the label of the Arizona diet green tea I drink constantly is not in fact a geisha, but a TAYU. I picked up my drink, and I noticed "boy she sure does have a lot of hair sticks... HEY! Her obi ties in front! I'm... drinking whore tea!"
LOL

Date: 2007-12-16 06:44 am (UTC)yup, she's probably a head oiran. in most periods the head would be a tayu. so she's a classy prostitute. she can refuse people she finds distasteful and costs a lot. WOOO!
