a night at the opera (Fidelio)

well, Fidelio is now my second favorite next to the Marriage of Figaro. It was totally WOW. I loved the lighting, the costumes, the voices and THE MUSIC. It was like angels.
it's been a bit hit or miss with the operas we've seen so far. We went to tonights performance because it was Opening Night for the entire season, and hey, it's Beethoven, right? But instead of it just being "ok" it was amazing. ..... Though the pants role still has nothing on Takarazuka. :)

Prior to the show we had a lovely dinner in the lowlit back of a froufrou restuarant. I had dessert (oh noes!)

Mitch and I tonight:
(Mitch hasn't worn a tux since our wedding! Fun! I made my outfit. The shawl is a shigoki obi. )

Never been to the opera, but recently we did hit the Seattle production of Young Frankenstein (next stop, Broadway!). Much giddy fun and we didn't have to get too dudded up for the occasion.

it is pricey! we didn't go last year at all,... but the operas they have t his time, we really really wanted to see, so we went for it! We'll just have to save more in other areas. :) Thanks so much for the sweet compliment! LOOOOVE!
