fabric and frou frou
Aug. 12th, 2007 09:58 am
so Crisso came over about yesterday morning and gave me pretty sparkly things for my birthday and then we went fabric shopping!favorite gift...
<---- bacon in a bikini. (she didn't want to wrap him normally, so she made him a bikini out of wrapping paper! XD)
got fabric for mine and Char's Code Geass costumes!
Huzzah! I think that's what I'm going to start working on next. I need to learn how to use my new sewing machine better though, so next weekend I'm taking a class for it at Joann's. I'm looking forward to trying it out on my Euphie costume. :)
we had curry and bought some silly sponge cakes at the japanese grocery store.
It's nice to have a girly day Crisso. She'd been so busy over the past year with the Simpsons movie (she was an assistant director on it) that she didn't even have any time at all.
We bought pretty hand-dyed silk ribbons and ombre non-silk ones. I felt like we were in a jane austen movie. XD we're going to make pretty flowers with them. The orange and yellow in the photo below are some flowers I made for Char last week.

DRAGONCON:
today I am going work on my silly 5th Element stewardess for Dragoncon. I can't wait to pick up more stewardesses later.
also for Dragoncon,... XD I'm also going to be a PIRATE again. atelier-boz-loli pirate?
I'm going to wear this burgundy atelier boz jacket I got in Japan ... also some fun pirate jewelry from Adornmynts and black tricorn hat from Jas Townsend... which is remarkably like the one from BTSSB sans some trim! I definitely need to make a rhinestone eyepatch.
HUNTINGTON CHAMBER MUSIC:
In the evening Mitch and I went to the Huntington for :
Beethoven - Quintet for Piano & Winds, Op. 16 (this was based on the final Mozart number below)
Schubert - Shepherd on the Rock, D. 965 (her voice was gorgeous!) it was a song about a shepherd calling into the vallies about how he missed his love. Apparently it's Schubert's last piece?
Mozart - Quintet for Piano & Winds, K. 452 (this was my favorite of the two instrumentals). I need to watch Amadeus again.
I was worried I'd be bored, but even though it was a little long for my taste... it was very peaceful to listen to the music change and create new things while looking outside to the sunset on the trees in Huntington and hearing the crickets as it got later. I wouldn't mind doing it again next year.
OPENING NIGHT A THE OPERA:
We got our opening night opera tickets which are insanely frou frou. We are going to Fidelio (Beethoven). Guess I need to work on my bodice to go with my kimono skirt, huh? We are going to frou frou out that evening. :D

Date: 2007-08-12 05:33 pm (UTC)Ok so I finished my skirt! (well minus the zipper cause I suck and forgot to buy one yesterday while I was at Joanns.)
The striping, we decided, looks best 3/8 apart and I just stitched it on to the vinyl in a darker colored thread. It doesn't look the same as neoprene but oh well. We don't have neoprene so that's that.
Want me to send a photo?
