< --- My new craft book, Artful Ribbon, thanks to Judy for the inspiration! I can't wait to make a ribbon cabbage rose. This book makes me feel such sweet nostalgia. I'm looking forward to trying regular ribbon flower embroidery too.

Am still selling t-shirts and sketchbooks! All the paid for ones are going out in the mail today, FYI! But you can still buy them! :)

I can almost breath today! yeay! I feel the cold abating slightly!

I finally saw Marie Antionette. (I know, what a travesty that it took me this long??) Many reviews had called it vapid... but I actually thought it was very sensitive! I enjoyed it and have respect for a lot of her choices.

Regarding Comicbook and Anime cons....
What cons have you gone to that are really worth it?
Ones you really like consistently each year and are well-run with good staff and are of decent size?

THIS YEAR:
Dragon Con
New York Anime Festival
Pacific Media Expo (most likely)
Yaoi Con (most likely)
Animagic (maybe?)

NEXT YEAR (definites):
Fanime
Comic-Con

WHAT D'YA THINK A THESE?:
APE
Ohayocon
Sakura Con
Katsucon
Wizard World Los Angeles
AniZona
Otakon
Japan Town Anime Fair San Fran
A-Kon
San Fran Cherry Blossom Festival
Some Other Magical Con I Have Not Heard of That Rules??

So NOT surprised you're HP! I scored as Severus with the tie breaker being Harry - weird!

I adored Marie Antoinette - almost beyond words. It was a colourful and moving extravaganza. Total eye and ear candy - we play the soundtrack daily here! And the costuming - guh!!!!

I love ribbon work - enjoy!

Dragon*Con art show is run horribly. I know one or two artists who did really well but I was NOT impressed with Dragon*Con at all. If you were going to do it, I would not bother with the art show and just get an artist table or dealers table. The art show also introduced a jurying process and a lot of really talented artists got turned down for no apparent reason.

I'm only going to Dragon con for fun to hang out with friends, thankfully. I wont have a booth or artist table. :)

I'm possibly interested in doing tables or running panels at other cons though...

thanks for the headsup!

There's Anime Central...but that was badly run last year -_-

I do well when I mail art to Katsucon and A-Kon and Neko Con. But I'm only judging by that since I'm not there:) I don't know whether they're fun.

you mean you mail them work for the art show? I've never tried something like that

Yup, I do that with sci fi cons and whichever anime will let me all year. Usually they require only originals or limited editions though. I'm not lucky enough to live near big cons:(

that's pretty rad and it doesnt really require as much of a financial commitment as going to the con does... it's too expensive to fly to all these cons!

I can't believe you hadn't seen MA yet! :-) I'm glad you liked it. I agree with you and didn't find it vapid at all.

I also have been head over heels for MA since I saw it, the colors, the music, the costumes *swoon*- it's wonderful eye candy.

I recently have bought a book on ribbon embroidery myself, I've been hoping to use it on a sweet cream colored waist cincher I'm working on, but I'm still sewing most of the body of the cincher first then trying my hand practicing on something else first. I can wait to see what you whip up!

No love for Anime Boston? ;_;

Next year's going to be... interesting, though. Do also consider Providence Anime Conference, not only because I'm the vice chair but because it'll be a fun con for Big Kids.

Otakon... meh.

Katsucon was pretty rad.

actually, I'd love to go to Anime Boston! Char's told me lots of good things about it and she knows cons. I think it might be out for me though due to it's proximity to Sakura Con.
I like Big fun for Big kid cons.

:) Katsucon might be a possibility!

Otakon is amazing. IT's a great nice decent sized convention, I give it major props.

Ohayocon...eh...I don't know. I went there, but there wasn't much I was really interested in, and stuff was so so (compared to Otakon and Anime Central). soo...yeah, unless I get dragged with friends to it (because I live close) I don't really plan on going, nor would I recommend it.

Sorry, random lurker here. Please pardon.

I've had a table at A-Kon for two years and found it's a very well run Artist Alley. They do their best to make sure everything goes smoothly for the artists and I have no complaints with them.

The tables are decently priced and the placement of the Alley is at the center of the con so it gets alot of traffic through out the day. Plus the con is rather large and even no names like me can get a decent amount of profit.

I've been to pitifully few cons. Wizard World was probably the best, and that's not saying much; it's a pale ghost in comparison to San Diego's con.

Fortunately the Gathering of the Gargoyles is going to be happening in my neck of the (Chicago) woods. A teenage dream is about to come true....in about a year. =)
