sooo, I finally found ground-cover that I liked... some little mosses and some wild violets. I have a really strong attachment to moss and violets. Moss reminds me of playing in the forest as a kid, I always thought it was so pretty. For some reason it makes me think of fairies.
and the violets remind me of my mothers yard, and my late grandmother (who's name was violet). The asian-style lamp is from my mommy vi's kitchen garden. Also a source of warm memories. The house with the magical kitchen garden is now officially sold. but at least I have this lamp.
Now lets see if I can keep them from dying. (darn it, even if I have to water them with my tears!)
my previous flowers died. *_* my little patch of ground is super super shady, so I hope these plants can take it! I envy people who have larger yards (or a yard at all...). I wish I could have roses! But violets and moss are definitely not a "second best".
I think I made friends with my neighbor. I was on my hands and knees attempting to rough up the soil with a plastic cup and she came over and said "GOOD!!" and then went inside... only to return with a hoe for me to borrow! She doesn't speak very much english. I thanked her profusely when I returned her hoe. I can't decide if she was happy that I was making the garden next to hers look better, or if she was happy I was being domestic and playing in flowers. *L*
I had an awesome weekend with Annie, Meg, Char, Allie and Van. pictures from that later. Watched Monsoon Wedding tonight with Mitch, which was lovely.
I'm so busy that I can hardly concentrate! My parents are coming this weekend (my dad coming for the first time in years, I think... )and deadlines of all kinds loom.
