I put my green Arwen dress up on ebay (with other stuff) only 9 hours left!

what's your favorite not-so-famous old-school Disneyland ride? Almost everyone loves Pirates of the Caribean and the Haunted Mansion. one of my favorites is Peter Pan. I still to this day love that ride, especially the part where you fly over Neverland Island and it has all the little lights.

-------
as to the whole Disney/Pixar thing, i hadn't said what I thought about it... mainly becuase I'd been trying not to get my hopes up. most of you know that what I've always wanted to be was a Disney feature animator (2d). After having more details and things come up, I now feel safe to say that I think it's a good thing... that I hope that maybe I can still be a feature 2d animator, and that maybe things at Disney are turning around.

-------OPERA-------
soooo this weekend I slept alot, and then Mitch took me to the LA Opera's "Le nozze di Figaro". and it was really really really awesome. Not only was the music and singing just totally gorgeous, but the acting was great too! I really felt like each of the characters was really well developed and I cared about all of them, and enjoyed every single part of it. Mitch and I (Mitch's idea) had been trying a few well-known operas to see if we'd like it. This is the first one that we really really really adored. I really couldn't get over how much I liked it. (now if they only had more supertitles!!) Also, before dinner we had a wonderful dinner at this nice Italian restaurant. Fun to get fancied up every once in a while. :) It was AWESOME AWESOME. I pretty much slept and sewed for the rest of the weekend. I needed that!

-------
I'm reading "The Stars My Destination" which is a kinda-sorta rewrite of the Count of Monte Cristo (one of my very favorite stories). interesting that the author also came up with the Green Lantern Oath...?
-------
what would be cuter for everyday wear with jeans? Keeping in mind that I wear a lot of pink, grey and red.
The grey shoes
The red shoes

Marriage of Figaro is one of my favorite Operas. Tons of laughs, great characters, and a great plot. I'd also recommend Mozart's The Magic Flute.

If you become an animator there, do your best to have them stop making crap, please. The older I get the harder it is to hold on to my childhood fascinations and Disney isn't doing much to make me want to believe it still makes quality movies that are worth $8 to see. =(

Oh, that's funny - I'm reading The Stars My Destination now too! (My science fiction book club is reading it, actually.)

I'm up to the end of Part I currently. I'd be interested to hear how you like it.

I think we all can agree on that. But lack of artist-influence-over-the-greenlit-projects is a recurring bitch among even the highest of the (few remaining) DFA animator high priests. A notable exception was Chris Sanders getting hugely more control than usual over "Lilo & Stitch."

I like both shoes. The red are more daring; the grey, more conservative (or, less daring).

Grey!

Also thats sad what they doing to the rides there. I loved the Swiss Family Robinson tree house and the Tiki Room, and now they seem have gone and taken that magic away. :( I used to love Mr. Toad's Wild Ride as a kid.

Hi Aimee,

Peter Pan's ride was/is one of my favorites as well! I loved riding on the 'flying' boat and just soaring above everything 8D!

I'm a HUGELY HUMONGOUS MASSIVE fan of the Haunted Mansion ^_______^
(especially the Paris one, Phantom Manor)
Peter Pan comes right after that, it's second on my list <3

Have you ever been on the rides inside the pavillions in Epcot? I think the Norway one is really well done, including the salty spray from the sea.
Or the "Imagination" one with Fidget the purple dragon (EPCOT as well). I heard that they took that one down, I hope it's not true! ._.

About shoes: the red ones are cuter, however the grey ones are more practical, because I guess it's easier to match those with anything else.
It'd be nicer though if the red ones didn't have the turquoise rim though.
______________

About Disney: Do you think they'll ever get back to making 2D features? After Chicken Little I'm fearing more and more that they'll just stick to 3D. (Chicken Little had some AWESOME animation imho)
They say that kids won't notice the difference anyhow, and sadly that seems to be true from what I've observed/conversations I've overheard X__X
IF they ever decide to produce 2D stuff again, I think that won't happen much earlier than 10 years or so from now.

Dayum! If I had your height and waist, I'd so make that Arwen gown mine...*le si* who ever is the current bidder is getting it for a steal.

My favorite obscure Disney ride? Hmm. I always dug the Tiki Room - guess that's not really a ride. Mr. Toad's wild ride would be a second.

The grey shoes! The red ones would probably get grubby quickly, and then they'd be less cute and fun.

Patrick and I went to see Figaro last weekend and really enjoyed it as well. I think LAOpera generally does a very good job of bringing life to some of the more traditional operas. The Grand Duchess was also very viewer friendly and enjoyable.

Also- the grey.

Yeah, that blog always depresses me.. but thankfully Disneyland upkeep has picked up and they've done an awesome job cleaning up the ETR.

All my favorites at DL are gone, like America Sings, the subs, the People Mover. I especially miss the old Sleeping Beauty Castle walk-through, where you see the dioramas. It was so cute.

As for shoes, I like the red ones.

You'll have to let me know what you think - you'll probably be done before me. We only meet every other week - and this weekend I finished the reading for next week! It'll probably take 2 or 3 more readings to finish the book.

Anyway, I'll be curious to hear your opinion when we're both done! :-)

After that read "Fondly Farenheit". It's an ever greater Bester classic. It's a short story collected in: Virtual Unrealities : The Short Fiction of Alfred Bester. Many anthologies have also collected it over the last decades.
