commissions and making tshirts

TSHIRTS:: does anyone know of a place like this: http://www.fishead.net/index.htm that is good for getting tshirts made? or have any suggestions if you've done tshirts before? I don't want to get in over my head. I'm still c onsidering my options. ^_^

COMMISSIONS::::
If you've emailed me about commissions, and you are expecting a reply from me, or you've already paid me and I didn't email you with an update today, please email me. I searched through my inbox really studiously today to make sure I'm up to date with everyone, but I fear that my box may have eaten something. SO, if we were discussing commission work, and you're expecting further information from me, OR if you've already paid me and I haven't finished your commission yet and you didn't get an email from me today, please email me. :) aimeeATaimeemajorDOTcom

dude, I am SO PRODUCTIVE THIS WEEK!
This weekend I'm getting all the party stuff together for the stuff I'm planning. (if it turns out, I may try to throw a larger party for fun later! ) Also I have to do some serious organizing and cleaning. I'm going to go through all my costume/fabric piles, throw stuff out, organize my closet and give stuff to goodwill, put actual art up on the walls in the hall, etc, etc. It's going to be AWESOME. I'm going to make coffin german chocolate cake, gothic potatoe pie (hahah!) and skull cookies, and lots of 'tarded stuff. If it turns out I can change the theme and make weddingpartyish stuff.

I wonder how hard it is to get a fake cheap old camera like this? It's one of those "on legs with a cloth to cover your head" cameras.I also need a mustache and handcuffs. AWESOME. XD~~~

Also I've been posting slightly innappropriate photos in hcc_cosplay..

also, I am fat again. Must start getting on the b ike in the mornings now that I have spin shoes, I have no excuse. :P

Ohhh, those old cameras you can find on eBay sometimes pretty cheap. You can run a search for "Large format camera" and it should pull up some stuff for you. Some of the more broken ones can go fairly cheap.

Do you need it to be functional? (Don't know if you're going to want to take pictures with it.) If it's just a prop, I would definitely tell you to rip as much stuff out of it as you could, because those things are AMAZINGLY heavy, especially when you add in a tripod and film x__X My dad works with large format cameras for some of his artistic stuff as well as weddings, and I've had to carry that bag one too many times XD

Good luck!

it doesnt need to be functional, it's just a prop! :)

I've seen them (working too) at thrift stores. The next time I go over I can see how much it costs.

eBay is a good bet too if you want a non-working one.

that would be cool, there's one on ebay, but if you know where one is, that would be much better

[identity profile] ajmeow.livejournal.com 2005-10-06 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Wanna post the REALLY inappropriate one? =D

[identity profile] sakurae.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Do you want me to bring anything? I was thinking black candles for effect? :)

[identity profile] aimeekitty.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 01:52 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] angryogre.livejournal.com 2005-10-06 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
http://www.mammothprintshop.com/ does some great work.
I suggest working with American Apparel shirts. They are by far the most comfortable shirts you can buy and are made in the US by well paid workers.

[identity profile] aimeekitty.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the recommendation! I hope they have some type of babydoll shirt! yeay!

[identity profile] angryogre.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, they'll get anything to screenprint on (including all of American Apparel's stuff (http://www.americanapparel.net/))

Re: T-shirts n stuff

I work at a t-shirt printing company - not that that makes me a printing guru or anything - but I recomend either bella or American Apparel shirts. I've only ordered a few sets of A.A. wear, but they 'feel' nicer than Fruit of the Loom or Hanes. Hanes does make some nice ladies' shirts, but whatever you decide on, beware of rib-knit apparel. That's the stretchy shirt material that hugs your form, but the downside is that overstretching can hasten the wear and tear on the screenprint. bellas are definately my favorite; they use what's called ringspun cotton, which is really soft and comfy. Try to avoid 50/50 blended shirts if you can; we've had problems with some of the bright colored shirts bleeding into the light colored screenprints, turning a white imprint on a red shirt pink for example. If the printer uses low-bleed ink, this greatly reduces that risk.

I don't know where you're ordering from, but I recomend comparing prices for spot tone color printing versus four color process. Depending on how many colors are going to be in the image, sometimes spot color is cheaper.

hope any of this helps and if you're interested in some more info, drop me a line. I'd love to see what images you're considering for shirts...
