trying to decide whether to combine two of my characters or not... ... my anatomy and perspective are really lacking. I need to start going to life drawing labs again. storyboard class (afterhours) is already kicking my ass though so it will have to wait.

I haven't seen the girl in the second sketch before. She looks very mischievous!

Because I'm an addict I'll mention that I'd love to have that hair in Second Life. ^o^;

basically, I had a more niave sweet character, and an experienced Geisha type character who only shows up briefly. I liked the idea of the two o fthem playing off each other in the original story I was thinking up. but I got a new story idea, which would make the main character more like the SECOND character... which would mean I'd delete the second character and kinda combine their personalities.... but I dunno. I like drawing the wide eyes of the first character, but I dont think her eyes would fit the second character as well.

Just a little annoying note, if she were a Geisha her obi would be tied in the back. ^^
(And if she's a Taiyuu you can remove the tabi. Sexay~) ^^

Either way, I love the design. ^^

yeah, I appreciate the feedback! (honestly!) I'm just playing around right now with outfits and stuff. :)... and actually if she was a Geisha, she wouldnt have all those ornaments either *___*

Well, Geishas have pretty fancy kanzashi and all. She wouldn't smoke, though.

Speaking about Geishas always reminds me of Takeshi Kitano's Zatoichi movie. xD

I wanted to make a "fancy style" kitsune character for a while, I was thinking about going forward with this particular design (but more accurate, once I figure out what the hell I'm trying to do. :D)

I know for a fact that Maiko wear their obi long in the back, though. Then there's all the difference in lip paint shapes...

yup, I'm pretty sure that you're right that I'm mixing them, but I kinda knew that when I was drawing it, just playing around with what I liked, if that makes sense. *_* but I dont know anything about the ones that wear them in the front!

The ones that wear them in the front are Taiyuu (I think that's the term) and they were the hookers. They wore incredibly high geta and walked in figure eights and the likes. And tied the obi in front because it's easier to remove that way. xD

I figured that was something to do with it! :) I wonder if they had the really fancy headdresses and kimono too?

for a kitsune, that would be the perfect job (obviously she wouldnt have any coniptions about such things!)

Oh, and they didn't wear any socks, apparently. 'cause a naked toe peeking out from the bottom hem of the kimono is sexay. xD

I don't really think you need my input, but I'm just going to give you my thoughts. Number one looks fresh and energetic, number two mischieveous and mysterious. I read your comment about wanting to combine the two; but while the naivete of number one might indeed be solid ground for an interesting interaction between the characters, it could also be nice for the number one character (if she would be a bit more mischievous herself) if she had some kind of mentor. The petty thief and the prince of thieves. :)

By the way, I love the second one's hair. :)

I love this recent 'look' and the hair sketches. So I'm guessing your making the character more of a tayuu/oiran instead of a geisha then? :D
