NHK - Musashi tv series?
Jun. 16th, 2004 09:49 pmMUSASHI----
(boy I'm online a lot for someone who says they aren't going to be online, huh?) but you guys are so cool with your mad information skills, so I'll ask you.
There was a tv series done in 2003 by NHK called "Musashi". The teacher from Battle Royale is one of the supporting characters, but of course the actual tale is about Musashi. I think it was inspired at least some by the manga, Vagabond, which is a huge favorite of mine.
Where can I find Musashi? I'd need a subbed (even if it's fan-subbed...) version if possible.
I hope I hope?? This past year when Asahi went out of business I happened upon some picture guides to the tv series and I was really taken with how some of the actors look. I'd really love to see it.
still researching stuff for my film! cleaned up a lot of boards today for it, cut out some big sections, clarified some areas and found some new sections. Also called 5 people about jobs.(which is HUGE. I just about had a freak out fest about calling people. It's so scary!) I have an appointment at WB tomorrow, and Friday I might get some work at another studio. I hope. we'll see. Also taking a test at ANOTHER studio.
also worked out (worked out yesterday too.) still very fat. GRR.

Date: 2004-06-17 08:53 am (UTC)Beat Takeshi's also the lead actor in a really cool movie called "Zatou Ichi", based on the story of a blind samurai (oddly made in the same year as "Musashi"). I only saw pictures of him in that movie, but you should get that also. it's rather awesome. =3

Because all of the Mushashi material is esentially based off of the old novel that chronicles his life. Part truth and part legend. You could always hunt down a video rental store that carries copies of the Samurai trilogy. Each film chronicles a chaptor of Miyamoto Musashi's life as played by god of Japanese actors, Toshiro Mifune. The first chapter covers the initial story arc as depicted in the Vagabond manga. The other two films jump ahead in his life to the point where the last ends at his duel at Ganryu Island where he fights Kojiro Sasaki using a sword carved from an oar.
