weeeell, this is what about a day and a half of work looks like. This is Noriko from From Far Away. (PS, No, I will not be using a wig for this costume... as her hair is longer sometimes. I think I will give myself some epic 80's bangs, though.)
The only thing left is the closure on the front of the red outer gown and Mitch's tunic, both sets of shoes, ... and perhaps some pants for Mitch. I like the Heidi-esque trim I picked for the red dress. It was pretty fabulous, too, that I had enough fabric and wigs lying around that the only thing I bought was the trim, pretty much. (Even those gold triangles are left over from some Utena costume...)
... Pretty happy with the fit of the bodice, I think...? I might use it as a basis for some of the sundresses I've been meaning to make. We'll see. There are a few rough patches.

I think we can be entirely sure that pretty much no one will know who we are. Haha, whatever. From Far Away is a great manga.

Its looking great! I really love that trim.

And dude, no worries. For DragonCon this year, I'm planning on a costume from a Broadway musical. How many people do you think are going to pick up on that? ;) Maybe we can start an "Unrecognized Cosplayers Anonymous" group.

LOL I don't remember if she keeps wearing some of the same dresses as the story progresses... does she only wear that one when her hair is still short? XD

The dress is so pretty, and I love the trim you used! Soooo cute! <3

I love the outfits from From Far Away! Yours is coming out great.

I don't cosplay but I once made myself a couple stuffed animal Chimo I filled with beans and would pin to my shoulder for cons.

no, she doesn't wear this dress when her hair is long, but I can't cut my hair because I have a wedding coming up. If someone complains, they're being silly. :P :)

It's nice. :)

(It's also nice to see someone actually cosplaying "From Far Away." That series needs more love. ^^;)

Very cute :)

You know, I've found that there is always SOMEBODY who knows who you are in an obscure costume. It might take time to find them, but they will know you.

I'm hoping to pull a similar "let's see who knows this manga" thing for Y-Con, but I have to convince D that it's good idea XD

Neat! Reminds me of kind of czech or hungarian look.
