Huntington and Useless Manga
Mar. 19th, 2008 06:11 pmSo, this is what I bought to read on the plane to Japan:
- Nana V.9
- Love*Com V.5
- Fruits Basket V.19
What will Mitch be reading?
- "Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader" by Bradley K Martin (about North Korea)
- "The French Revolution: A Very Short Introduction" by William Doyle.
(his other top choice was "Hitler and Stalin: Parallel Lives" by Alan Bullock)
I think it's pretty funny the difference in what we chose to read, huh? I love that my husband is bookish. I like nerdy boys. XD (to be fair, I will probably read the French Revolution book after him, and I will enjoy listening to his commentary on the N. Korea book.)
however,... I'm not sure how I will be able to stand waiting till the plane ride to read my girly manga.

I went to Huntington to have lunch and tramp around in the flowers with minuberry and her cousin. :) It was very nice weather today, too.
what is blooming at the Gardens?
Wisteria! They smell so great.

nasturtium. (they are edible!)

double cherries, some other cherry variations (some have died off only to have other varieties of cherry take over...)

Several varieties of iris

Camelias! (though they are on the way out a bit... but still gorgeous.)

Chinese Snowball (a personal favorite.)

Lastly, a really cute commercial thanks to umister:
- Nana V.9
- Love*Com V.5
- Fruits Basket V.19

Date: 2008-03-20 02:02 am (UTC)but I worry about having to lug more books around! I do have my old gameboy though. um... and sleeping pills?
I wish I had a laptop, then I could write things without having to retype them.
(I was tempted to get XXHolic and Vampire Knight, too... but I feel like I would breeze through those even faster. Maybe I will get a Polignac biography or something.)

Date: 2008-03-20 07:26 pm (UTC)Considering how long the flight will be, you might want to consider bulking up your load of manga ;)! You could probably finish those 3 in about an hour or so! On the other hand, I have overpacked manga too. I still have to figure out what is the 'right' amount to bring ;b!
Those photos are beautiful! I bet it smells wonderful too! Too bad they haven't invented internet with smells yet.

Date: 2008-03-21 07:29 pm (UTC)Your reading lists don't sound that different...
"Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader" sounds a little like Fruits Basket... and Hitler x Stalin could be a yaoi title... okay maybe not.
The Huntington looks gorgeous! I really need to get off my ass and go.
