Lolis and corsets
Jun. 22nd, 2009 12:48 pm

I've been liking stuff like this a lot lately.
So I have that pink dress, and it's one of my alltime favorites, but the all-over shirring is not as flattering as a non-shirred piece. Getting a corset to go over it would solve that problem and give me some more variety with the piece.
some similar ideas....

So I was thinking about getting this underbust halter in white or black. I'm having a really hard time deciding. I have pretty much equal amounts of black and pastel stuff... sooo... not sure what would be best. Especially, I'd like to wear some of those black BTSSB/AaTP skirts with something other than a plain loli blouse.
Should I just use my existing white victorian to do the look I want and then get a black halterunderbust...?
Also under consideration: a Vixen Highback Underbust or just a basic RTW underbust Etoile in a black on black brocade. I've seen how much use neku-niku gets out of her black cincher for all kinds of outfits, and I had a lot of fun using my white victorian in some outfits... so I'd really like to have a bit more variety.
The other idea would be to make just a basic non-corset underbust myself... (like underbust bodice AaTP dress) but then, it's almost like "why not get a corset one". I could make a corset myself, but I'm so busy lately, and the prices at that shop aren't too bad.
WHAT SAYS YOU?
OTHER LOLI Things that are awesome:

~~~ This new pastel circus print dress from BTSSB. I honestly can't decide which colorway is the most awesome. (Maybe Dark Blue?) BABY, please make this in larger sizes or a skirt!!!
~~~ foldable froufrou umbrella
~~~ pagoda-style umbrella
~~~ Innocent world making a larger sized light blue blouse! - variation.
~~~ just a lovely simple IW dress. I think I might use some blueXwhite toile fabric I have laying around and make a simple dress like this soon.
~~~ AP's kinda ridiculous but kindof awesome tulle'sposion fairy dress
~~~ Still love Sugary Carnival. I wish they didn't make it so friggin short.
~~~ Madame de Pompadour Dress Set over at Candy Violet! Love seeing more 18th century stuff. I still love some of the "a season or two ago" BTSSB ones in the same vein.

Date: 2009-06-22 08:14 pm (UTC)I'd advise paying the little extra for a made-to-measure corset rather than going OTR, especially since you're tall. Trust me, a corset that doesn't hit you right at the ribs/hips is NO FUN WHATSOEVER.
I really love the underbust/vest-style corset look, and have eyed that weskit corset myself . . . I think it would look fabulous with some of your loli looks!

I've been wanting to take the Underbust JSK pattern that was in Kera Maniax a while back and make it either into a bustier or corset style top, it seems like it would be a very versitile piece! I'm thinking a solid one and a polka dot one. lol
Have you tried on your Victorian Corset with your Lolita clothes yet? If your happy if some of those combos it seems that you could try a different color like black. ^_^
Can't wait to see what you come up with. =D

Date: 2009-06-22 08:31 pm (UTC)I think the jumpsuit is going to need a lot of altering because their smallest size is the same as when I did my X-wing out and we had to bring that in like four sizes.

Date: 2009-06-22 08:42 pm (UTC)As far as colour goes, I'd personally go for black. It's probably not an issue you need to consider but, on my body at least, white underbusts seem to have the effect of thickening my waist whereas black ones look more slimming.

Date: 2009-06-23 02:09 pm (UTC)It's usually called "She is Sleeping" from the text on the embroidery. It has little rhinestones on it, too.
If you don't already know, you can search auctions using "mbok" or "yahoo!Japan auctions". You'll need a shopping service like celga or rinkya.
Your other option is to put up an ad in EGL_Sales LJ community, or just search the community, too.
good luck! I love this dress, the details are very lovely. And in general fairy-tale lolita is my favorite. :)
