WIP for Judy

First arts in over a month. I'm so tired and busy lately!
But I wanted to draw this for Judy for her birthday because I looooove her. <3 <3 She wanted an oiran with swoopy lines. After she writes me back with her kimono-motif preferences, I'll finish it up.


I watched Jacques Feyder's L'Atlantide (a 1920's French silent film) today. Antinea's costumes were really awesome and I enjoyed seeing the period soldier outfits and such... but it was so slow going, that I actually ended up fastforwarding parts. (Plus, it's hard to draw, sew or pack while watching a silent film...!) But it's pretty fabulous that you can just rent an old film like this on Netflix!

Ooh, that's lovely. The simplicity of the face, and the shape of the eyes especially, makes it remind me of some of the concept art for Okami.

wow, it looks great! Wooo for oiran! Have you ever seen Sakuran? :) We watched it in my geisha class. I love the actress, although one of my favorite films with her in it is Kamikaze Girls.

Yes, I'm actually a fan of the original manga artist's stuff (the one who did Sakuran and Sugar Sugar Rune) I thought the movie did a really good job of capturing the spunk and outrageousness of her original work.

I love Kamikaze Girls, too.
