I had a little time to kill inbetween errands so I went up to ANTHONY C. BEILENSON PARK in Van Nuys. Turns out some of the sakura trees there actually DID put out a full bloom. But by now they were a little past-peak (ie darker blossoms, flowers dying). And some trees did not bloom at all, which is rather worry-some. But I'm glad I got to see them! I found a big tree and sat under it for a while with the ducks.

Later, I had the interesting experience of exchanging a skirt at the mall for a smaller size, and being told that I owed the clerk 50 cents (due to the tax raise). So... I'm not even BUYING anything, I'm exchanging something (for a smaller size, no less... ) and I have to pay the sales tax. lol.

Yesterday, I went through 90% of my books in the living room and separated some out for sale. I'll put those up here later when I feel like dealing with it. -_- Today, I'm moving to the guest bedroom and then the master for cleaning. ... then the garage. *shudder*. This is all, btw, a PRE-cleaning/organizing. I'm begging my mom to come out and help me do it even better. She's an adorable machine.

... I have the urge to make daisy chains and sit in the sun... but it's a bit chilly today and work's to be done.

Those are so pretty! The ones in DC are probably at peak right now and I really want to go see them, but I don't know if I will get the chance this year.

On the plus side, my tulips are finally blooming and I took some pics this morning. I'll hopefully post them tonight!

OT, but: What disgusts me is that the park was renamed for a still-living politician who retired in 1997 as a reward for his many years of bringing home the bacon. I dislike this no matter who the politician is. (I don't mind so much when the person is long since dead.) It's a way of currying favor with the pol's still-powerful allies -- and it only serves as one more encouragement to current officeholders to grab for more pork.

only a few trees look REALLY nice, if it makes you feel better, but still pretty! I hope next year will be better, too.

this year,.. it looks like there was never that long strip of full bloom trees with the cherryblossom wind and all. the kind that makes your jaw drop, right...? This year, only patches of like 3 trees near each other, and then patches of this:
