Sho just sent me a highres of this photo he took at Fanime 2006. This is one of my favorite cosplay photos ever. I still love Rose of Versailles. OscarXAndre foreva. <3 AJ

I love cosplay. I just had a renewed surge of "YEAY" about it.
I love seeing people post progress stuff and being all adorably happy about it.
I love that people are playful enough to enjoy dressing up like fictional characters, even if they are supposedly "adults".
Some of my best and most awesome friends I've met through cosplay. Funny thing is, they're all very "mature". <3 <3

as a sidenote, I'd been forgetting to update my cosplay website, so it's up to date now! The older maiko henshin pages are uptodate now, too.

I'm a fairly new fan fan of cosplay, and I must say, your lj is one of the big reasons why I appreciate it so much more now. It's so great to read about your ideas and works in progress, and then watch you and your friends having so much fun executing everything. Great stuff, thanks again for sharing. Never stop!

Also, loved Ai Japan. Please publish more!

thank you so much! I'm glad to bring cosplay love to other people. :) a big part of the fun is how cool my fellow cosplay friends are. I love making costumes, but it's more fun with people you love spending time with. AJ in this Rose of Versailles picture is the same one I went to Japan with (in Japan Ai). :) I'm glad you enjoyed the book, too! :D
I'm working on more than one book now...! I'm hoping to release the first one next summer. I'll post more when I can.

Your icon is so cute btw, what's it from?

It's my one true love, Kim Pine. From Scott Pilgrim. (http://www.scottpilgrim.com/)

Specifically it's from a FCBD special (http://www.flickr.com/photos/radiomaru/837201298/in/set-72157600870067107/) last year:

I never realized how beautiful Cosplay can be. It really is an art. Someone should create an exhibiton at a museum. I honestly feel like the rest of the world should see that its not always sad pimply virgins in costums. Ive actually been look at your pics and I now want to get into cosplay myself. You are so gifted.

*bows before you, humbled by your presence

have you seen much cosplay stuff before? I've been doing it for about 8 years so sometimes I forget what non-cosplayers impressions are of it.
in reality, it's costuming, pure and simple. just that we are not professionals at it. But I think that the work that some cosplayers do, is just as good as what you see in movies sometimes. I always go to the FIDM costuming exhibit,... it's so interesting to see what movies have really high quality, and what are ghetto up close.

Anyway, a lot of us choose to spend a lot of time and money on this because we love whatever the source material is, and we love the act of creating it. It's not just about being slutty in a cheap costume. :)

Thanks a bunch....
haha, but we are such goofballs, there is no reason to be humbled. it's just experience and work.

Ou how funny O_O I think the peach is really similiar to the kimono I wore too! I think the red is really stunning though because it highlighted the make-up so well.
