happy things!

- today was gorgeous!
- work is great right now
- I made a plaid skirt! :D

the plaid was on sale and the last bit on a bolt. I just BARELY had enough fabric. I made up the pattern loosely based on my Milke Ange petti. I used some of my special rose lace that I got at Okadaya on my trip to Tokyo. So that means this skirt has to be extra magical. It only took a couple hours to make, too! It has a comfy elastic waistband and the plaid fabric is super soft. I'm going to wear it with tshirts and such to work. and stompy boots. haha. or chucks. HURRAY!

if you want to make one, here's the rough measurements. You can modify it of course to fit you better pretty easily. can probably do it with 2-3 yards of fabric. (but don't hold me to it!)

IMPT: cut out 2 of all panels
-- TOP PANEL: 9" by 26"
-- MID PANEL: 6" by 61"
-- MID BOTTOM PANEL: 8" by 71" (would be better if it was a little longer)
-- BOTTOM PANEL: about 4" by as long as you can get to get a nice gather (mine's too short so it doesn't have a great gather)
-- then whatever lace you want below that! :)

you start by sewing the TOP two panels together to make one long TOP panel, then the MID two panels together, etc. Then gather all the panels except for the TOP panel. Sew MID to TOP, and so on... :) So basically all the panels gather into the panel above them. Then do the waistband however you please. If you want to do elastic, just fold over the top to the inside to make a channel.
