last day of katazome class was yesterday

a couple of my pieces need to cure longer, so I can't show you the finished product yet, but here's what I have so far at the last day (yesterday.) It was fun! I learned A LOT.
Here is the largest of my goldfish stencils in use. This is resist paste pushed through the stencil I cut. It's on an obi that I bought for this project. So the colors you see there (The pinks and reds) were existing. The mustard color is the resist paste.
This is the "drum" of the nagoya obi. There is another smaller goldfish in the front area. :)

Then I went in with various dyes and painted on top of and around the resist paste. I'm going to wait a while for it to cure, since this one is important to me. So maybe next week, I'll wash off the resist.

the finished koi peice (this was just a dye shading test, really. but it's kinda fun looking) (what it looked like before removing the paste)

This is one of the shirts I'm making. The first step was to cone on resist paste for the waves. Then I dipped it in indigo... and then I stenciled on the koi design (which I cut myself) and then dipped it a couple more times.
this made the fish design in a light blue, while the waves were in a lighter blue/white. So the waves stand out more than the fish. I'll take a picture of the finished shirts later this week. (they're done, they're just drying)

Then, since my tardis stencil wasn't cured yet, I put my koi stencil on some cotton yardage to make a skirt. and then dipped it in indigo.

then I put on one of John's stencils, and dipped it another time added some lowlights and then removed the paste. In retrospect, I should have dipped it twice before adding the second stencil. I wanted the second one to be a darker blue so that the fish would stand out more. but live and learn!

a hawk that was sitting near us while we were dyeing. (note the small birds... these birds kept dive-bombing him to try to get him to go away, but he wouldn't flinch or move!)

a bunch of our projects sitting out to dry:

my hands after washing them three times at the end of the day:

now it's time to try really hard to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING (while somehow finishing Fanime stuff.)
