This is a really quickie of water birds (plovers) and grasses. Right now it is rice/bran-paste resist on fabric. Tomorrow we will dunk it in indigo! We learned a lot today about various techniques and ways to think about dyeing fabric. I will probably free-hand paint dye directly on the fabric (with no stencil or resist) for my goldfish, ..... and the bird design for our bedspread..., I will paint the resist (no stencil) with a brush, and then dip in indigo.
I will probably do another design (a fish, I think) in stencil so that I can learn that, too. And probably freehand paint dye around the resist. :) I want to make a shirt with fish on it for my brother.

some flowers this week:

and, this is Gertie, one of the RDS dogs! Isn't she wonderful? She's the one I drew a few days ago.

Hey Amy, while I was helping a customer at work I stumbled across this and I thought you'd like to know about it. =)It's a Hello Kitty Nintendo DS case.

Maybe I've been on Chidoriya one too many times, but I'm always excited when I see those things.

Do the plovers and the grasses signify a certain season or month, like the flowers of your kanzashi?

well, because of the grasses, they're probably more of a fall thing. but I think the chidori can be different seasons depending on what they are paired with. :) like if it was chidori and water, it would be summer.

How lucky to be near him to take one of his textile/dying classes! Can't wait to see how it all turns out, and hopefully pick up some hints!

I don't live up north actually! this is a special class down south here. But if you live in NorCal, or don't mind taking a trip, he does a big class every summer!

I'm way too far away - Ontario, Canada. ^^; Otherwise that would be very fantastic.
