So, I've been having fun exploring where I live a little and taking retarded photos with toys (I'll share later. maybe.) So far I've hit City Hall, Hall of Justice, Angel's Flight (which is sadly under renovation...), Million Dollar Theater, Little Tokyo and Fabric District (duH), Hollywood (just a few of the tacky places like Museum of Wax and Grauman's Chinese etc...)

I'm going to be trying to see a silent film (The Son of the Sheik) soon at one of the old theaters downtown, so that'll give me some fun with the "old theater buff" aimee.

Any other suggestions what would be fun to go see in Southern California? If someone was visiting from out of town (or out of the country) what type of stuff would they go see? What type of stuff is Southern California known for?
I'm guessing next on my list will be Malibu, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, etc...

BTW, my abs and legs are sore from yesterday's homegrown workout. GO ME!

Today I'm working on my cape and styling my Marie Antionette wig (thanks to Char!). I'm somehow amused that I have to go buy giant velcro hair rollers. I'll go up to the counter and be all like "yeah. they're for ME!" (with my short haircut! haha!)

Am sad that I'm not going to the Arclight to see Star Wars tonight. :\

Total number of films I own on DVD or video:

about 260, give or take... between Mitch and I. A depressingly large percentage of these are animated films, a good portion of which I don't actually watch that often, but have to OWN because of my job... (research, research, honest!) I also have a lot of national geographic tapes for specific animals that I like (and may want to animate one day). The rest are my favorite action flics (including hong kong B-movies and classics like DIE HARD.) some dumb comedies that are great background like Zoolander and Happy Gilmore ... and some syrupy romantic tragic musicals.

Last film I bought:

Phantom of the Opera Special Edition DVD (I had to buy it at least for the Making of the Broadway Musical documentary included. I dislike a lot of things about the movie, but I love the original musical... and I did like somethings about the movie, so there you go.)

Last film I watched at the cinema:

Unleashed (YUM! character-based comedy, tons of heart, badass martial arts and a great story)

Last film I watched on DVD:

Rose of Versailles: Oscar and Andre: Takarazuka (I'm watching it while I'm working on my wig for reference. and the songs are pretty, yo)

Five films that I watch a lot or mean a lot to me:

1) Beauty and the Beast

Even before this movie came out, I was already preoccupied with the fairy tale (and lots of other fairy tales.) I've always had a soft spot for this fairy tale, and the movie came out at just the right time, that I absolutely adored it. Sure, it has it's flaws, but it really really changed me. This movie is the reason that I worked most of my semi-adult life to train to be an animator.

2) Star Wars

Han Solo. Sexiest fictional character ever. (lots of other reasons why this movie is the best ever, but you all know how great it is, so lets just leave it with the most important reason. Han Solo.) One day I will finally make myself a bad-ass Jedi outfit.

3) Kiki's Delivery Service

Whenever I feel like I cant go on and I feel that my spirit is gone, this movie reminds me who I am. It's also my favorite Miyazaki film... Miyazaki being one of my all-time favorite directors. (though Howl's Moving Castle is a close second.)

4) Pride & Predjudice

Mr. Darcy. as a sideline for similar reasons, I also like Bridget Jone's Diary. Both are not particular the greatest works of our time, however, they make me feel good when I'm blue.

5) The Emperor's New Groove.

I'm going to quote quirkybird because she can say it better than anyone.... "A film of absolute, pure goodwill and exuberance. One of those movies where, if you don't like it, there's probably some fundamental clash in our personalities. So few things out there are really completely perfect for what they are, and this movie is one of 'em."
