so what's the deal with Worlds of Warcraft? Those of you playing it, is it really fun? would you say it's more fun than FFXI for example? what are the differences?

curious curious aimee!

My brother (the evercrack addictee) says its the best yet. He even played the beta version of the game continously.

I really don't have a clue about the game play, but the graphics are wwwaaayyyy more purdy than the others

If you know anyone with the collector's edition in your area, they get an extra set of CD-ROMs (it contains both a DVD-ROM and five CD-ROMs) and a 10-day free trial pass!

I'm enjoying it, but I hear that druids (who can shift to cat-form) get a little gimpy in the higher levels. We'll have to see how it goes.

I'm a City of Heroes geek, myself, but my friend Dragonblink has been part of the WoW beta, and just bought the Limited Edition. She has nothing but rave reviews about the game, for what it's worth. ^_^;

I've been playing since part of the way through the closed beta. Eet's awesome. My boyfriend and I have been playing together with my little brother (who is in a completely different state) and some friends, and we're all having a blast.

The levelling is just about right, I think. You really feel like you've earned it after the first few levels. (It starts off easy, so as not to be discouraging, and then you work your way up with increasing resistance.)

I have a Tauren Horde char--warrior--and a Troll warrior and a Night Elf hunter. So far, I'm enjoying this immensely.

and you know.... if I can squeeze some money/time into my schedule, it might be fun to play all of us together occassionally. The "highly inappriopriate/suggestive comments group"

oh yeah and i forgot to say a major difference is that the longest you will ever have to wait for a mob to spawn and kill is like, 5 minutes =p

If you're gonna play it, I suggest you have PLENTY of RAM... or you'll end up like me; desperate to play, and after 5 hours installing the thing, I can't play it right cause of the severe lack of RAM which has made it so glichy I want to scream.

But, I have RAM comeing, so I will play, and all withh phear my Night Elf-ish druidness XD

my dear, you know me well! I wish I could play with someone like you! :D I keep ALMOST getting to play with friends, but so far I've only been able to play with mitch (which is fun, but really I want to play with several people!)

some questions -

- can I be a hot cute character? how customizable are the characters? are the models and animations pretty? I guess I can't be a cat chick huh? can I explode things? when they explode are they pretty?

can I play with anyone, or are there servers like FFXI?

I got kinda frustrated playing both a warrior and a black mage in FFXI... with warrior, its like I wasn't even playing, you just choose the enemy and then you dont really DO anything. you just sit there and watch. at least with warrior I was able to lvl up fast enough... but with black mage, while the attacks are more intertaining and require more thought, it takes SO long to lvl up and I have to heal all the time just to keep my magic gauge up... *sigh*.
and really unless you can find a big party to play with who play all the times that you do, and not when you dont, it's hard to have as much fun or lvl up very fast.

well, Mitch's beloved christmas present from me and all his relatives was a souped up computer, so I'm sure his could handle it. (I'm sure that my sadly starting to be lacking MAC however even if compatible probably would not run it)

which really comes down to another sad point which is, since the game doesnt come out for PS2 also (I'm guessing?) that only mitch and I could play separately, and we'd really rather play such an engrossing game together!

The nightelves are pretty hot. the human females arent too bad either (and they have tons of hairstyles). The models are very stylized to look like Blizzard game characters so they arent freaking detailed to the toenail like EQ2 but the animations are MUCH smoother and more realistic. I absolutely *adore* the whole style of this game.

Haha yes you can explode things, if you are a mage or take up the engineering profession =D

And you can pick your servers. you can have up to 50 characters and up to 10 on each server.

All of the classes in this game require actual real-time skill. You dont press a button and wait. You also level fairly quickly. It is possible to solo to the level cap (60) with every single class, and grouping is completely optional (though helpful for some of the harder quests). Mainly the focus of the game is not to LEVEL like in FF but to follow all of your quests which are what give you the XP. Walking around killing random mobs will give you almost nothing.

If you've played Diablo2 and/or some of the Warcraft games, WoW is very true to Blizzard's legacy of quality -- many of the interface conventions are similar to D2. The only reason I'm not playing *right this second* is because my husband is playing on the only pc we have in the house that can run it. I'm loving it. I haven't played FF online or EQ, so I don't have much comparison to draw.

Lee and I had this problem when it was closed beta, just because we had one account between the two of us. (The program was on all our computers, but we could only log in from one at a time.)

It feels like such a luxury to be on at the same time.

My boyfriend played the beta and insisted that I would love it as much as him (we have similar taste so I'm sure I will), so we just got two copies of it. I'm gonna make me a smexy nightelf.
Hope you play on the same server as us! If so we should party. =D
Nightelfs are pretty, and my drawing muse is harassing me to draw them. *_*

I play mine reguardless, because I'm sadistic and want to kill things. It took me hours to complete a mission where I only had to kill 4 boars and 7 savers... pretty sad...

Dont mind me, just a bit of lurker, I followed over from youre art site. I used to play Final Fantasy and left for WOW, theres a world of difference beteewn the two. The game play is easier and is good for power gamers and casual. It doesnt take hours to level, you can be a really cute gnome since ya like the cute charaters :), the graphics are awesome and have thier own sense of style.

If you are interested in a guild, me and some friends have been running one for over a year now, its a tight knit group and we are always looking for friendly people that want to have fun with us. You can check us out at reignofelysian.com
