I'm so tired of this. SO TIRED!!!!

we got dsl working on Mitch's computer. well it's crappy and yahoo-ized and evil. but it works. (sbc/yahoo) we went with it because it's what we had been using, and figured why not, plus they offered us a cheap reknewal contract. well before, we didn't have sbc/yahoo. they hadn't merged yet, it was just sbc/pacbell. So now it's got ads and moron stuff.

I'm so bummed though. I can't seem to get the networking between Mitch and my computer to work. I'm so frustrated. I don't understand why we couldnt just plug them back in and have everything work. I hadn't changed any of the settings from before. :.....(

I'm tired of not having my FTP! and now I can't even check my email!

I HATE COMPUTERS!!!!! This is supposed to be EASY!

Oh yuck >_< I don't know why Yahoo has to go and corrupt everything. I hope you get it all working nicely without all the pop-ups soon! ;_;

blarg, I'll be leaving for the day in a couple of minutes so I'll finish what I had to say about the networking.
In the case of our computers, we originally hooked up the access to a network hub and then hooked the two computers to the hub as well...that way we could share the access and not have to worry about one of the computers always being on.
This was fine for the first month or so, but then the provider noticed that each computer had separate IP address and they cut off access to one of the IP addresses (mine, BLARG!). Short story long, we ended up paying for another IP and now we both can get online, but for double the price. >x.x<

Now, if you hook up the access so that the DSL is going through one computer and then the second computer is hooked up to the first computer instead of going through a hub, there shouldn't be any problems as long as the first computer is on whenever the second computer wants to be online.

Of course you probably know all this already. >X.x< Oh well..

I know how you guys feel about the Yahoo-ized stuff. I miss sbc/pacbell, at least they didn't have all that annoying crap.

I don't even bother with the browser they give you with it. I turned off the yahoo bar in IE and reset it's home page to what it was before. I've still got to go in and reset the home page for Netscape 7.

And on the networking, it should work since you haven't changed any settings.

If I wasn't way up here in Sac., I would offer to come over and help.

If you get a router (about $50), and plug everything into it (not directly into the hub), then you only have 1 internet-IP for as many compies as you want (and each compie has its own internal-IP that can only be seen by the router). Plus the router makes it so that the computers can see each other, as well.

I suck. you'd think I'd know how to do this by now. I've had to do this like 3 times.

I'm probably going to have to go ask my techie friend at WB to help me or something.

yeah, see we have a router. But it doesnt work for some reason,... I think i have some setting wrong either on his computer or mine. Originally, we were going through a router and it worked before! So you know,... I think there is some setting wrong. *_*
