I think my taste is slowly changing a bit. I'm really into dressing "beautifully" lately... with a quirky edge, but I'm less interested in dressing over-the-top cute. I suppose it's been coming on for a while. And it's not because I'm OOOOLD, it's just because I'm enjoying one thing over another lately.

I really like these Grimoire / dolly-kei coordinates:
I like the defined waist and the embroidery details. I would wear stuff like this (toned down a bit) for everyday wear. and look, cute heels (not teaparty shoes or clunky things...)
But I mean, it's not really a Japanese style, is it? (I mean it is but...) It's more of a European folklore traditional costume thing... it's great!

Perhaps it's all the Bollywood I've been watching... or maybe it's that Turkish Fancy Costume made by Worth in the High Style: Masterworks from the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection Book... but I'm really liking ethnic touches on clothing lately. I really loved the day-dress made out of saree in that book. I totally want to do that... and I really want a NICE mexican embroidered blouse.

Partially related, I'm really really loving vintage dress styles lately... Despite being in grey and herding giant dive suits, I felt really pretty in the 1940's dress I made for Bioshock. I want more.
I picked up several gorgeous patterns at Decades of Style at Costume College. I'd seen their stuff before, but never really looked at it seriously. Seeing her sample garments in person (which are just impeccably constructed...) helps you imagine the garment better. A lot of it has a feel of Anthropologie to it (though truly, it's Anthropologie that has a feel of vintage...) I got this 40's dress, this 40's arches skirt (which she had made up in a beautiful mossy green... it was stunning!, this awesome 50's pocket dress, and this gorgeous blouse which I'm sure I will wear the crap out of. I also got an awesome asymmetrical 50's stole pattern that totally reminded me of Cheryll. (She doesn't seem to have it up on her website, though)

coming back to strictly lolita,...

I know I've been busy lately, but how did I not know about Meta's new (UNICORN) Twinkle Journey? I tried to reserve one of the skirts this morning (navy), we'll see. It's probably already sold out.

I'm very tempted to get this Embroidered pocket dress in pink because I have the black one and it fits so comfortably and is so nice and long... and the sale price is kinda awesome. I'm not sure though. :\ That black one will never leave my cold-dead-fingers, but do I really need it in pink, too? Probably not.

The reservation time is almost up on Gingham check creeping rose doll one piece dress. I'm very tempted because the LL would most definitely fit me. ... but... high-waisted... usually a bad idea for me. :\ (and again, I kinda wanted to make my own ribbon embroidery dress). It's not something I could wear other than at events, too.

I got my yellow Milky Planet skirt. And I think it looks pretty cute on me... but the way my taste is going lately, I'm just wondering if I should go ahead and sell it. I have some other cute skirts, right? It's just I was so excited about it when it came out, but I just don't know if it's something that suits me. It's super crazy adorable. (you can see the print here)

Lastly, here's some window displays, etc, I've liked lately.
FIRST OFF, if anyone sees this skirt at their local H&M in size 14, I WANT IT.

I liked this skirt at anthro... I think you could take some obi or kimono fabric and make an interesting skirt like this in the same shape.

love the olive military/safari mixed with feminine lately.

I liked the ribbon details on this H&M shirt. This would be so easy to mod your own shirts with.

Cool fabric flower detailing

I like the red plaid dress with ruffle detail. Again, way too short, but cool idea.
